Divisions

Age Group

Age groups are separated in 5 year increments. Your race age is based on your age on December 31st of this year. This is done so that you race at the same age for the entire season.

Individual Age Group Categories for Men and Women:

19 & Under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+

Minimum Age to Participate:

  • Rookie / Sprint Distance – 14 yrs old
  • Olympic Distance- 16 yrs old.

Pro / Elite

The open division exists for the fastest participants. The idea is to let the pros and elite age groupers compete against each other, regardless of age, and to therefore make the age group waves a little more friendly. To qualify for the Open division males must have a verifiable finisher time of 2:10 or faster at a previous olympic distance triathlon. Females must have a verifiable finisher time of 2:30 or faster at a previous olympic distance triathlon.

Aquabike

The AquaBike program gives athletes the opportunity to compete in a category where they will complete the swim and bike portions of the race, while omitting the run leg of the race. AquaBike category for the sprint and olympic distance only. Please note: there are no relay options available for this event. It is an individual event only.

Athena/ Clydesdale

You can also select to participate in the Athena/Clydesdale, separated according to body weight instead of age group. These athletes are subdivided by gender, each of whom must meet these minimum weight requirements:

  • Athena: 165 lbs
  • Clydesdale: 220 lbs

Relay

Available in the sprint and olympic distances. For those who prefer to race one element of the triathlon, we offer the Relay division. Relay teams will consist of two to three members, each member will complete one segment of the event and “pass the baton” to the next member in the Transition Zone. There are no age groups for the relay division, all relay racers will compete for the fastest overall time.

Paratriathlon (Sprint distance Only)

Parathriathlon awards are available for sprint distance only.  Awards are for top 3 female and top 3 male finishers in each distance.
